To determine the efficacy rate of a vaccine, drugmakers run a trial among selected participants of different layers of the population divided into two groups, half get the vaccine and half a placebo. After a certain period, researchers count how many people got infected from Covid-19 in these two groups.

Sputnik V is a two-dose Covid-19 vaccine. It is developed by the popular Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology in Moscow. It is prepared using a similar platform to Covishield which is the most widely used vaccine in India since the beginning of the government’s immunization programme. Yet, unlike Covishield, which uses a weakened common cold “adenovirus”, as far as Sputnik V is concerned, it makes use of two different human adenoviruses

It is much easier to Manufacture
It requires neither Synthetic Proteins nor Viral Vectors – Two crucial components of Covishield that is almost exclusively dependent on US and EU Markets.

Inactivated vaccines contain a part of the virus instead of the whole. During preparation, researchers remove those parts of the virus required for viral replication, making these vaccines safer than the live attenuated type.

Many people have taken both doses but those who do not, must complete the full dose of the vaccination, since people will be safer after completion of both doses
